Computational and Applied Research of Energy Storage by N2 Electrochemical Reduction to Ammonia

The fuel cells and electrochemistry laboratory at the Department of biological chemistry at Ariel University in Israel is seeking postdoctoral candidates to conduct applied and analytical investigation in the field of catalysis/energy conversion & storage materials. The candidate will join a well-established enthusiastic group of scientists under the supervision of Dr. Alex Schechter and will join our effort to explore the physical, chemical and catalytic properties of nitrogen reduction to ammonia catalyst materials for energy storage applications. This research is expected to lead to highly active functional materials and fundamental understanding of their role via rigorous of study of their reactions mechanism on practical and theoretical. The proposed position is supported by the Israeli government. Ariel University offers a collaborative research environment and features state-of-the-art research facilities relevant to the proposed position. A full competitive scholarship and subsidized accommodation are offered to prospective candidates in this program.

Required Qualifications: A successful PhD degree in Chemistry, Chemical Physics, Chemical Engineering or Material Sciences, journal publications record. Preferred Qualifications: former studies and experience in DFT based computational chemistry (VASP, G09), surface reaction, nano materials, electrochemistry, and relevant analytical methods (FTIR, XPS, XRD, HRTEM, Raman microscopy).
