Biocatalytic Cascades using Renewables
in Graz / Austria for 40 hours a week
The project
The project deals with the design and development of biocatalytic cascades for the valorisation of renewables. Enzymes from literature and databases will be tested first for the single reactions steps. If required, enzymes will be improved to fit the requirements of the desired reaction conditions by engineering based on structural information as far as available. Optimization of the reaction conditions of the cascade is part of the project.

That’s important to us
Ideally, you have a background in biotechnology/organic chemistry/molecular biology and good know-how about biochemistry. You should also
- have completed a PhD from a recognized University in
Chemistry/Biochemistry/Biotechnology or related fields
- have research experience in the following areas (the more the better):
instrumental analytics (HPLC, GC, NMR, MS etc.), biocatalysis, molecular biology,
biochemistry, organic synthesis or related fields.
- show interest in conducting a research project independently
- enjoy the work in an international, interdisciplinary environment
That’s what you should know
The research will take place in the working group of Prof. Wolfgang Kroutil, located at the University of Graz.
- The annual gross salary is set between EUR 44,000 and EUR 55,000.
This corresponds to a monthly net amount of between EUR 2,125 and EUR 2,500 (paid 14 times a year).
- Starting date: December 2021 or January 2022 for 1 year
