Applications are invited for a Temporary 24 month post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 2 within School of Biosystems and Food Engineering
BiOrbic, Bioeconomy SFI Research Centre is Ireland’s national bioeconomy research centre, established to promote and develop Ireland’s bioeconomy through excellent research and innovation. BiOrbic is a national collaboration of over 100+ researchers, focused on the development of a sustainable circular bioeconomy. Its researchers work on selectively separating and extracting valued compounds from renewable materials, converting those resources into novel bio-based products and processes, delivering market and industry- scalable sustainable resources.
The BiOrbic Knowledge Hub will integrate the sustainability and technical knowledge developed by the Centre to support initiatives such as co-design, open innovation, open source, open access to results. It is intended to be a means of bi-directional engagement among diverse groups of actors and stakeholders. The Knowledge Hub will form part of an active and developing bioeconomy eco-system.
This is an advanced research focused role, building on your prior experience as a post-doctoral fellow, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator.
The primary purpose of the role is to develop new or advanced research skills and competences, on the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications and scholarly dissemination, the development of funding proposals, and the supervision and mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching.
This position will focus research needed to implement the knowledge Hub considering:
(1) the theoretical framework for the BiOrbic Knowledge Hub that has been developed for integrating existing network and knowledge pipelines for bi-directional engagement
(2) validation using examples drawn from: (a) knowledge diffusion; (b) intelligent matchmaking; (c) intelligent gap identification
(3) the operational integration of (a) an analogue knowledge pipeline (e.g., communication with a 'relatively off-line’ actor-community; (b) a commercial actor-community; (c) a stakeholder community
Salary: €45,942 - €50,030 per annum
Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
