Applications are invited for a temporary post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 2 within UCD School of Physics.
Applications are invited for an "Irish Research Council Laureate Project Fellow", level 2 post-doctoral position, in condensed matter theoretical physics, to join the Theoretical Nanoelectronics Group led by Dr Andrew Mitchell in the School of Physics at University College Dublin (UCD). The position will also be associated with UCD’s new Centre for Quantum Engineering, Science, and Technology (C-QuEST). The position is funded through the prestigious ‘Laureate’ programme of the Irish Research Council, for 1 year.
The project concerns quantum transport through single-molecule junctions, especially those in which strong electron interactions and/or quantum interference effects play a key role. The successful applicant will have a PhD in quantum condensed matter theory, with experience of quantum transport in nanostructures, simulation/computational physics, or strongly correlated quantum systems. The group benefits from existing collaborations with leading experimental groups. Generous funding is available for equipment and travel. For more information, see
www.ucd.ie/nanoelectronics/ This is an advanced research focused role, building on your prior experience as a post-doctoral fellow, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator.
The primary purpose of the role is to develop new or advanced research skills and competences, on the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications and scholarly dissemination, the development of funding proposals, and the supervision and mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching.
