EMBL Interdisciplinary Postdocs (EIPOD)

The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is one of the top life sciences research institutions in the world. Research is organized into units at the six EMBL sites. The main laboratory in Heidelberg, Germany covers Cell Biology and Biophysics, Developmental Biology, Genome Biology and Structural and Computational Biology.

The EMBL-EBI in Hinxton, near Cambridge, UK, is specialized in Bioinformatics whereas the EMBL sites in Hamburg, Germany and Grenoble, France focus on Structural Biology. The Rome site focuses on epigenetics and neurobiology. Research at EMBL's newest site in Barcelona focuses on tissue biology and disease modelling.

The EIPOD4 programme underlines EMBL's strong commitment to promoting interdisciplinary research. The institution has a long-standing tradition of scientific excellence that builds on highly interactive research between the group leaders of different research units. EIPOD4 projects capitalise on synergies emerging at the borders of overlapping yet separate scientific fields, and involve transferring techniques to a novel context.

The programme will offer about 20 positions in 2021. Features of the positions include:

    - Funding for cross-disciplinary projects
    - Three years' of secure funding
    - Providing generous health care benefits and pension access
    - Development of a project proposal forms the basis for recruitment
    - Additional partners from academia, industry, clinics and museums are welcome
Applicants are invited to design and propose an interdisciplinary project of their choice according to scientific interest.

EIPODs will join the EMBL Postdoctoral Programme with its broad range of advanced training and career development opportunties.
