Applied Research Manager

Job Purpose
Researching and understanding of the fundamentals of liquid film coatings as applied at high speed to paper and film substrates.
Researching and understanding of interactions between formulations, substrates, and coating method.
Communication of understanding to the business.
Application of understanding to processes at Tullis Russell, including formulation, mixing, mass delivery, coating and drying.
Improve predictability and repeatability of outcomes in coating operations for current and new products.
Improve business response to problem solving and troubleshooting process and product issues.
Research new and emerging technologies to enable development of capabilities at Tullis Russell to support growth in current and new markets.
This is a management role where expert consultancy to the business will be essential and will require working with the global Tullis Russell Group in China and South Korea.
Qualifications/Experience
Postgraduate or Higher Degree or equivalent in a relevant scientific discipline
Ability to plan and manage research projects to achieve required outcomes
Knowledge & industrial experience of chemistry, materials, coating, and associated processes
Experience of problem-solving techniques
Ability to gather complex information and propose routes to apply it to coating formulation.
