      Prof. Yves Geerts

Université Libre de Bruxelles - Free University of Brussels - (ULB) is a major academic institution with international recognition for scientific achievements, see https://www.ulb.be/

The group of Prof. Yves Geerts is active in the design, synthesis, processing and characterization of advanced molecular materials with unprecedented properties, notably as organic semiconductors for optoelectronic applications. [1-6] Beside the synthesis of organic semiconductors, another line of research deals with the crystallization of molecular materials in specific conditions to control the structure of thin films, and ultimately their properties. [7] See also http://chimpoly.ulb.be/

“Pi-Fast” is a research project supported by the National Funds for Scientific Research (FNRS) that aims to design and synthesize molecular semiconductors that would self-organize into single crystals with charge carrier mobility, μ ≥ 40 cm2/V.s in organic field effect transistors, i.e. for charge transport probed at large time- and length-scales. [3,4]

A talented highly motivated young synthetic chemist with a Ph.D. in aromatic chemistry and/or organic electronics is actively searched. The candidate must have a sound knowledge of organic chemistry, be hard at work, easy-going, rigorous, and have strong laboratory skills. He/she must be fluent in English and be able to write high-quality publications. Additional knowledge of French would be appreciated.

The successful applicant is expected to develop an innovative synthetic chemistry of thienoacenes and to contribute to their solid-state characterization by thermal and structural methods.

The position is for an initial duration of one year. Expected start date from June 2021.

To apply, candidates must send to Prof. Yves Geerts, [email protected], a letter explaining his/her motivations, a curriculum vitae, a list of publications, and the name and email address of three reference persons.

Applications will be accepted until a suitable candidate is hired.
