Postdoctoral Researcher (f/div/m) Complement Genetics & Glomerular Diseases

The Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology – Hans Knöll Institute – (Leibniz-HKI, www.leibniz-hki.de) investigates the pathobiology of human-pathogenic fungi and identifies targets for the development of novel natural product-based antibiotics.

The department of Infection Biology invites talented and highly gifted candidates to apply as a

Postdoctoral Researcher (f/div/m) Complement Genetics & Glomerular Diseases

    for two years initially.

    Your profile:
    • Doctoral degree in biology, genetics, microbiology or life sciences
    • Experience, knowledge and good experimental skills in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry
    • Knowledge of complement and immunobiology, bioinformatics, cell biology and microbiology is an advantage

    We offer:
The successful candidate will investigate the field of complement genetics, complement regulators and pathology of complement mediated kidney diseases.

Main topics of the project are:

    • Identification of genetic mutations of complement genes in the renal diseases C3 glomerulopathy and atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome
    • Next generation sequencing for genetic diagnostics and biomarker evaluation
    • Functional characterization of FHR2 and FHR5 proteins in complement system and beyond; for further details please see literature below

The successful candidate will be hosted in the department Infection Biology of Prof Dr. Peter Zipfel. The Leibniz-HKI is embedded in the outstanding scientific environment of the Beutenberg Campus providing state-of-the-art research facilities and a highly integrative network of life science groups. We offer multifaceted scientific projects with excellent technical facilities, a place in a dynamic, committed team, as well as strong scientific collaborations.
