Post-doctoral researcher nanotechnology

    Fondazione Pisana per la Scienza (FPS) offers a fixed-term position as Junior Researcher to be included in a multidisciplinary team of researchers expert in nanotechnologies.

    Responsibility
    The researcher will develop, in collaboration with the PI and in the framework of the activities of nanomedicine laboratory, triggerable nanostructures tailored to in vivo quantification of circulating tumor biomarkers. The candidate will synthesize and characterize, in collaboration with the other members of the research group, polymer/oligonucleotide hybrids, and will evaluate in vitro their sensitivity and specificity towards tumor biomarkers. Further details on the activity can be requested at the [email protected] inserting as object: nano2020.

    Qualifications requested and evaluated
    A degree in chemistry, CTF, biotechnology or related fields, and a PhD in chemistry/life science (preferably nanoscience, chemistry, biotechnology or similar) is required. Candidates without PhD, but with at least three years of postgraduate research experience, will also be considered.
    Possession of one or more of the following skills will be positively evaluated:
    • Experience in synthesis and characterization of organic nanostructures;
    • Experience in conjugation of biomolecules and fluorophores with polymers, peptides, or oligonucleotides
    • Experience in the use of oligonucleotides (DNA), and in particular of oligonucleotide aptamers
    • Base knowledge of chromatography (HPLC / ion exchange / SEC);
    • Base knowledge of the most common molecular spectroscopy techniques;
    • Experience in optical microscopy.

    The contract will be for a fixed term (two years) on the basis of 40 working hours per week, the salary will depend on the qualifications and experience.

    We invite interested candidates, whose curriculum meets the requirements of the profile described above, to apply by sending their CV and possibly the contact details of (maximum) two people who can provide references to [email protected] inserting as object: nano2020.
