The Occupational and Environmental Epidemiology Branch (OEEB) of the NCI is seeking postdoctoral fellows interested in working on environmental molecular epidemiological studies of indoor and outdoor air pollution and lung cancer; environmental and occupational molecular epidemiology studies of chemicals and particulates; and nested case-control studies of molecular biomarkers and lung cancer within prospective cohorts. This fellowship is under the mentorship of Qing Lan, M.D., Ph.D., M.P.H.
Candidates should possess a strong background in epidemiology and/or statistical analysis, as well as excellent writing skills. A background in environmental science, environmental health, occupational health, toxicology and/or analysis of data from omics platforms is helpful. We have ongoing studies of indoor air pollution, genetic susceptibility, and lung cancer, as well as studies evaluating the etiology of lung cancer in non-smoking women across Asia, where lung cancer rates are particularly elevated. In addition, we use a wide variety of omic technologies and exposomic approaches in our studies including metabolomics, gene expression, miRNA, the microbiome, methylation, genome-wide association studies (GWAS), and next generation sequencing. There are opportunities to work on existing projects as well as to develop new projects on environmental and occupational risk factors, especially for lung cancer, using cross-sectional, case-control, and prospective cohort study designs. For further information about this position, please contact Dr. Lan (email: [email protected]).
