Research Fellow in Computational Cancer Biology - Ref: 1870234

The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £35,965 to £43,470 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified Research Fellow to join the Fisher laboratory, within the UCL Cancer Institute, which develops state-of-the-art computational models to investigate cancer evolution and mechanisms of treatment resistance in order to find new therapeutic strategies that can be translated into clinical trials and improve the outcome of cancer patients.

The post holder will be expected to make significant contributions to the development and analysis of a computational model of triple-negative breast cancer based on the integration of genomic profiles with clinical data in order to predict and explain differential treatment responses. This will involve data discovery, data analysis and computational modelling in partnership with our experimental and clinical collaborators at the Cambridge Integrative Cancer Medicine (ICM) programme at the CRUK Cambridge Centre.

This post is funded until 30th June 2022 in the first instance.

Applicants must have, or be studying towards, a PhD in a relevant subject with substantial experience in computational work and/or bioinformatics and must have a proven track record of research achievements.

Applicants should have experience in analysing cancer genomic data and excellent programming skills in Python, MATLAB and R.

Experience in presenting complex scientific concepts and content both in writing and verbally is essential.

Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at research assistant Grade 6B (salary £31,479 - £33,194 per annum) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.
