Fixed term contract until July 2023
Full Time (37 hours per week)
Salary= £33,799 per annum

Role Description -
We are seeking to recruit a talented Senior Research Fellow (SRF) to work on a cutting-edge research project funded by The Leverhulme Trust, within the section of Natural and Applied Sciences at Canterbury Christ Church University. This project aims to develop a proof-of-concept, sustainable and environment-friendly process for treatment of industrial effluents using novel biofilm-membranes. This work could also pioneer a new view of biofilms as potentially useful, biodegradable and renewable materials.

The SRF will be part of an exciting international collaboration and will work full time on the project to design, plan and execute experiments related to growth and structural, chemical and mechanical characterisation of biofilms. They will work alongside a Ph.D. student who will also be recruited for this project and will also focus on identifying other potential applications of biofilms that could lead to future projects/collaborations.

The successful applicant will be qualified to Ph.D. level with experience in working with microorganisms and microbial processes. They must be highly motivated with a desire to learn and have a passion for science and for designing and conducting experiments. A background in materials science, statistical design of experiments and/or data analysis skills would also be advantageous.
