    ELIXIR-UK Community Engagement Officer

Applications are invited for an ELIXIR-UK Community Engagement Officer to join the ELIXIR UK Co-ordination Officer at the Earlham Institute, based in Norwich, UK.

    Background:

ELIXIR operates across a wide range of life science data from human genomics to large-scale agricultural and environmental data. Its impact will be in the greater availability of this data and its provision in more standardised forms.

This will facilitate basic and applied academic research and industry innovation - from more efficient identification of genes and processes involved in rare diseases to improved crop traits - by linking disparate data from a wide range of sources.

    The role:

The ELIXIR-UK Community Engagement Officer will engage with the UK bioinformatics and the wider bioscience community to promote the work of the ELIXIR-UK node. They will attend meetings and conferences to promote ELIXIR and identify key stakeholders who can help to guide and inform the work of ELIXIR-UK.

Identify and engage with potential new ELIXIR services and member organisations and build ELIXIR-UK communities. They will work with the ELIXIR communications team to develop promotional material and with the Node Coordinator to develop content for the ELIXIR-UK website.

    The ideal candidate:

The ideal candidate will have a PhD in a relevant subject and knowledge of genomics bioinformatics/computational science and perspective on the technological opportunities for growth in these areas. They will also have demonstrable knowledge of Research Council strategy and processes.

Experience of a productive research activity in an area relevant to ELIXIR-UK or leading a policy initiative is essential, as is experience of managing performance and delivering against strategic objectives.

The post holder will be able to interact confidently with senior members of the UK and European academic communities, senior management at ELIXIR and Senior Research Council and quickly develop and maintain effective trusted relationships with key stakeholders.

    Additional information:

Salary on appointment will be within the range £31,625 to £38,575 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time post for a period of 12 months.

Please note, this post does not meet UKVI requirements to provide Tier 2 visa sponsorship.
