      Dr Mathieu-Benoit Voisin (QMUL21436)

The Centre for Microvascular Research is an internationally recognised group investigating the molecular and cellular events within the microvasculature focusing on mechanisms associated with leukocyte trafficking, the regulation of vascular morphology, integrity and function, angiogenesis and myocardial repair and stem cell therapy under both physiological and pathological conditions. The Centre has established expertise in cell migration research
and neutrophil biology using a multidisciplinary approach but with significant emphasis on the application of cutting edge imaging modalities such as confocal microscopy. CMR offers newly refurbished laboratories, excellent facilities (including a state-of-the-art confocal suite) and is located in the heart of City of London.
Applications are invited for a BHF funded 3 year Postdoctoral Research Associate position in a group led by Dr. Mathieu-Benoit Voisin working on the regulation of the adaptive immunity by neutrophils in autoimmune and inflammatory disorders. The goal of the project will be to characterize the molecular mechanisms involved in neutrophil migration into lymphatic vessels and lymphoid organs in the context of ischemia reperfusion injury (including myocardial infarction) and to investigate their contribution to T-cell functions during this pathological inflammatory reaction. The candidate will use cutting edge imaging approaches including confocal and intravital microscopy as well as immunological techniques, biochemical assays and in vivo inflammatory models. Close collaborations will occur with the other existing groups in the Centre for Microvascular Research. Candidates should be highly motivated and have a PhD in Immunology, Molecular/Cellular Biology or a related area. Experience in immunology and leukocyte trafficking is essential; experience in cardiovascular biology and imaging is preferable.
The post is full-time and fixed term for 3 years.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
