    Postdoctoral Researcher

    Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Harwood laboratory at the John Innes Centre, to work on a joint project with Glasgow University.

    The role:

    We are seeking an experienced Postdoctoral Researcher to join a project between Glasgow University (Prof. Mike Blatt) and the John Innes Centre (Prof. Wendy Harwood) to utilize optogenetics in enhancing stomatal function and its translation in the field. The post at the John Innes Centre will focus on translation of innovations in model species into Brassica and cereal crops. Specifically, it will involve construct design and assembly, Brassica and barley transformation, promoter testing and analysis of transgenic plants.

    The post is to start March 2020, or soon thereafter, and the post holder will be expected to spend a few months during the project working in the Lab of Prof. Mike Blatt in Glasgow.

    The ideal candidate:

    Candidates should possess a PhD in Plant Sciences, or substantial laboratory experience. Recent experience in plant tissue culture and transformation is essential, as are good molecular biology skills. Experience in construct design and assembly, barley transformation or brassica transformation would be advantageous.

    Additional information:

    Salary on appointment will be within the range £31,625 to £38,575 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This is a fulltime post for a period of 3 years.
