Striving for our goal of building an artificial cell it is essential that we monitor and understand our efforts of mimicking biological processes on the molecular level. In line with their long-lasting story of success, fluorescence-based microscopy/spectroscopy methods have not only been our first choice, but we have also continuously contributed to their improvement as well as to the development of new approaches. A manifold of projects is available in collaboration with the biochemistry experts on synthetic biology and range from studying the kinetics of key agents in cellular processes over to monitoring the dynamics of artificial cell division at highest spatial resolution.

Requirements: We are looking for applicants with majors in (Bio)Physics with both excellent knowledge and practical experience in optics and fluorescence microscopy/spectroscopy. Additional experience with super-resolution microscopy is beneficial, but not required. Applicants should be familiar with the programming language Python. From PostDoc applicants, we expect a convincing publication record.
