A postdoctoral fellowship position is available to join our Mucosal Immunology group (https://people.ucd.ie/ulla.knaus). We are interested in gastrointestinal physiology, inflammation and infection with relevance to human disease by using animal models and clinical samples. The project will focus on understanding gut barrier function, immune regulation and host-microbiota interaction in novel transgenic animal models on a mechanistic level. Studies will include devising possible therapeutic options on bacteria-derived or drug basis. Applicants will hold a PhD in Pharmacology, Cell Biology, Microbiology or related disciplines and should have experience in animal experimentation, gastrointestinal disease models, and in advanced microscopy and/or bacteriology. We are seeking independent and motivated candidates, who will take leadership of their projects, communicate well in English and are excellent team players. Proof of research and scientific writing skills with published articles as first author in high ranking, peer-reviewed journals must be provided. Standard laboratory technical and computational skills are expected. Ability to attend an interview in Dublin is required.
