Research Fellow (Murray Lab)

The Murray lab at the Sainsbury Wellcome Centre and the Brownstone lab at the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology are looking for a motivated and proactive Research Associate to lead a collaborative project aimed at developing new therapies for the treatment of motor dysfunction.

This project will involve the development of new viral constructs for the efficient infection of spinal neurons, as well as assaying the effect of different genes on motor activity, both in vitro in stem cell derived motor neurons and in vivo. The selected candidate should have a PhD in neuroscience, molecular biology, virology or a related subject. Candidates without a PhD but with a high level of appropriate experience may also be considered. Experience in in vitro electrophysiology, stem cell culture, molecular biology and/or production of adeno-associated virus will be an advantage.

The selected candidate will have a PhD in neuroscience or a related subject, and a background and interest in motor circuits. Experience in in vivo electrophysiology and/or calcium imaging is essential, and candidates will be expected to work effectively in a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary research environment.

The post is funded until 31 December 2020 in the first instance.
