King’s College London with its 200 years of heritage is recognised today as a world-leading research university, ranked 7th in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework. We understand the need to turn original thinking into everyday application, encouraging curiosity to develop work that makes an impact on society and global issues. Great names from King’s are continuing to change the world.
The project involves the development of new computational tools to characterise membrane protein structure and dynamics in lipid bilayers. In particular, the project will use the emerging hydrogen-deuterium exchange mass spectrometry (HDX-MS) technology to guide 3D structural modelling of membrane proteins and their complexes within their native lipid environment. Applicants should have completed a PhD or have submitted a thesis, in computer science, chemistry, physics or related field. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in computational and structural biology and molecular level simulations of proteins. Experience in working with membrane proteins and/or mass spectrometry is desirable but not essential.
Located in the heart of London, King’s is the hub of a global network of strong academic connections and collaboration, with prestigious international partnerships within and across disciplines – scientific and medical, social and creative.
