Post-Doctoral Fellow in Agricultural Systems



    • Full-time at 37.5 hours per week (1.0 FTE)
    • 2 Year fixed term opportunity

    What You Will Do

    We have an exciting opportunity for a postdoctoral fellow to join our Future Agriculture cluster where you will:
    • Develop an agricultural systems framework to identify and assess the risks and opportunities associated with disruptive agricultural technologies and change drivers
    • Investigate new agricultural pathways that lead to profitability, resilience and sustainability
    • Support outreach and coordination with other organisations working in this area
    • Support the process of establishing a Future Agriculture Think Tank
    • Contribute to the writing of one or more funding proposals
    • Contribute to the writing of papers and dissemination of information on the Future of Agriculture in New Zealand.

    Who You Are

    You will have a PhD in Agriculture, Engineering, or related field with a research background in agricultural systems modelling. Expertise in agricultural technology and crop/land/water/climate interactions is essential, as well as having strong computer literacy and numeric skills. Use of database management tools, statistical analysis software, and advanced modelling skills is expected. Knowledge of agricultural markets and socio-economic ramifications is beneficial.

    You will have demonstrated experience of excellent research capabilities (communication and leadership) required to carry out innovative and insightful research and a publication track record. You will an ability to communicate complex ideas and concepts to a wide variety of people as well as experience with preparation and delivery of quality oral presentations.

    You will work with the university wide multi-disciplinary Future Agriculture cluster. You will be based in the Department of Civil and Natural Resources Engineering (CNRE), whose role is to remain at the forefront of research and technology and preserve our strong international reputation for high quality teaching.
