Starting salary of £17,115 (FTE £34,230) per annum (inclusive of London Weighting), dependent on experience and performance
Part time, 17.5 hours per week:

The Barbican, Europe’s leading Arts and Conference Centre, presents an unparalleled variety of performing and visual arts of world class calibre, as well as hosting extensive commercial activity. The Guildhall School of Music & Drama is a UK Higher Education Institution with degree-awarding powers. It combines world-class specialist conservatoire tuition with a highly innovative portfolio of Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, and a burgeoning research culture.

Since the Barbican and the Guildhall School launched a creative learning partnership in 2009, more than 42,000 people including children, young people, families, community groups and artists have participated in our learning programmes and activities, while more than 300,000 have enjoyed our programme of free events produced in collaboration with our partners

As part of a fast-growing programme of critical evaluation and research in the area of the social impact of the performing arts, Barbican-Guildhall Creative Learning seeks to appoint to a brand-new Postdoctoral Research Fellowship. In addition to pursuing his or her own research, the successful candidate will lead on capturing and interpreting the learning generated from a newly formed National Development programme. Part of Creative Learning’s Schools and Colleges strand, this work will explore and evaluate ways of catalysing, convening and strengthening collaborative partnerships between arts centres nationally, and between arts centres and the school communities that they serve. The overarching aim is to enhance young people’s access to arts and cultural learning across a range of geographic contexts; this two-year part-time fellowship represents an exciting opportunity for a researcher to be embedded within the project, contribute to its development and especially its evaluation, and thereby shape future policy at a multi-organisational and potentially national level.

The ideal candidate will have a proven research interest in (and perhaps direct experience of) cultural learning programmes or similar, a good understanding of the formal education sector, and the ability to build rapport with a broad range of stakeholders.

As this role is not office based and involves working nationally, we welcome applications from researchers based outside London.

Closing date: Midday, Wednesday 17 July 2019.
First interviews are scheduled for the afternoon of 23 July 2019, and the morning of 25 July 2019.

All applications must include a completed application form. Late applications will not be accepted.
