    Middlesex University is a global university with campuses in Hendon, London, Dubai, Mauritius and Malta. The Hendon campus has over 1700 staff and 20000 students and has seen an investment of over £200M creating a leafy university neighbourhood in north London. The Faculty of Science and Technology delivers high quality teaching, research and consultancy across several disciplines including computer science, informatics and networking/telecommunications. In REF2014, 56 staff where submitted leading to an excellent REF outcome in the Computer Science and Informatics unit of submission and Middlesex was placed 13th for power rankings overall across the sector. In the London area alone, the Research Fortnight Power rankings placed Middlesex as the 4th largest department for computing research. The Faculty is continuing to grow and we are seeking to appoint a post-doctoral research fellow to contribute to research, project support to senior researchers to enable the delivery of the intended results, and co-ordination of a research multi-discipline project funded by UKIERI-DST programme.

    Particularly, the researcher is expected to work with a team at Middlesex University and collaborate with several other teams from the UK (Festo/Siemens) and India (Indian Institute of Information Technology Sri City) to conduct research in Digital Twin and machine learning technology to develop a digital counterpart (a Digital Twin model) of Industry 4.0 Smart Factory facilities to replicate their functionalities, data, communications, feedback, emergency and safety aspects. The proposed digital twin for industry 4.0 will also enable development towards self-correcting smart process control facility. Applicants will hold a PhD in a relevant area.

    The post will be a full-time role with fixed term contract of 18 months, based in Hendon, London.
