    Who we are:
    The University of Otago Legal Issues Centre ("the Centre") is housed in the Faculty of Law and conducts research on New Zealand's justice system that examines its accessibility, affordability, efficiency, fairness and accuracy, with the purpose of informing and influencing policy and conduct for the benefit of all New Zealanders.

    The role
    This position represents an exciting opportunity to join one of the country's most research intensive Universities and become part of a team helping to lead civil justice research in New Zealand.

    As a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Centre you will lead a study investigating pricing structures in the New Zealand civil litigation legal services market. In this role you be required to independently conduct research, analyse and report on the research findings. You will also be expected to publish these research findings in well-regarded journals and contribute to building the Centre's profile by supporting its media strategy.

    Your skills and experience
    • PhD in related discipline.
    • Experience conducting economic research and analysis.
    • Expertise in labour economics and/or the sociology of work is desirable.
    • Strong quantitative and/or qualitative research skills.
    • Proven track record of completing and publishing work.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Commitment to collegiality, teamwork, collaboration, and cooperation.

    Further details:
    This is a full-time, fixed-term position for two years from a date to be mutually agreed.
    Ideally, this role will be based in Dunedin, however, we are open to an appointment in another New Zealand city by negotiation with the Centre Director.
