The Fellowship is a prestigious European funding scheme that supports mobility, career development, and training within and beyond Europe, and offers 12 to 24 months’ highly competitive salary, a mobility allowance, family allowance and research funds.

Full details of the Scheme and application process can be found at:

The call is now open, the final deadline date for applications to the European Commission is 11 September 2019.

Applicants will need to submit an EOI to QMUL by 3 June 2019, please see the ‘How to Apply’ section for more details.

    How the fellowship works
A postdoctoral researcher (fellow) with a minimum of PhD level experience moves to an institution in another country (host), where he or she works with a supervisor to deliver a specific project involving research, innovation, training and networking activities. Both parties must collaborate on the application and the supervisor should offer appropriate supervision and support. Regular meetings between the supervisor and the researcher are essential for the planning and implementation of the research and innovation plan.
Proposals should be built around a plan for training-through-research at the host organisation (Career Development Plan). In addition to research activities and objectives, this should address the researcher's training and career needs, including training on transferable skills, planning for publications and participation in conferences.

    What funding the fellowship offers

12-24 months' full-time research funding. The funding covers:
    • Gross salary (€89,067 pa*, including Living Allowance and Mobility Allowance)
    • Family allowance (€500 per month, if eligible also paid as salary to fellow)
    • Research, training and networking costs (€800 per month)
    • Management and indirect costs (€650 per month to the host)
