Applications are invited for a temporary post of a UCD Postdoctoral Researcher Level 2 within UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science.
The position is in the Animal and Crop Section at University College Dublin and is part of a SusCrop ERA-NET European Grant to Improve genomic selection accuracy for disease resistance using genomic prediction models. This is a multidisciplinary project with more than 8 countries worldwide involved. The labs works with several crop species (wheat, oat, barley) to develop genomic prediction methods and integrate them optimally within breeding schemes. We source tools from genomics, quantitative, statistical, and population genetics, and from machine learning approaches.
We are looking for an enthusiastic researcher, with a clear interest in quantitative genetics, plant breeding, application of new genomic technology. The project addresses fundamental questions such as integration and harmonization of datasets with different phenotypic and genotypic properties, as well as to design training population to optimize long-term response using genomic predictions. Experience with handling large phenotypic and genomic data and an interest in quantitative genetic concepts is a prerequisite.
