Experimental and coputational study of energy conversion and storage reactions and materials

The fuel cells and electrochemistry laboratory at the Department of Chemical Sciences at Ariel University in Israel is seeking postdoctoral candidates to conduct applied, computational and analytical investigation in the field of catalysis, surface chemistry, energy conversion & storage materials. The candidate will join a well-established enthusiastic group of scientists under the supervision of Prof. Alex Schechter and will join the effort to explore the physical, chemical and catalytic properties of transition metal catalysts and support materials for fuel-cell applications, hydrogen generation /storage as well as other interfacial electrochemical challenges. This research is expected to lead to highly active functional materials and fundamental understanding of their role via rigorous study of their reactions mechanism on practical and theoretical levels. The proposed position is supported by the Israeli science foundation, under a national renewable energy program.

Ariel University offers a collaborative research environment and features state-of-the-art research facilities relevant to the proposed position. A full competitive scholarship and subsidized accommodation are offered to prospective candidates in this program.

Required Qualifications: A successful PhD degree in Chemistry, Chemical Physics, Chemical Engineering or Material Sciences, journal publications record. Preferred Qualifications: former studies and experience in nanomaterials, electrochemistry, computational methods (G09, VASP), Polymer science and relevant analytical methods (FTIR, XPS, XRD, HRTEM, Raman microscopy).
