https://targetmalaria.org/ (led by Imperial College London) to assist it develop and prepare for the potential deployment of novel vector control approaches based on male mosquito releases to help eliminate malaria in Sub-Saharan Africa. Part of this award, led by Keele University in collaboration with the University of Ghana, focuses on developing mass-rearing and deployment practices that improve the male mosquito mating phenotype and mating competitiveness in the field. Potential applicants, will have a strong interest in the development of novel vector control strategies for curbing malaria transmission, experience in field entomology and a PhD, or equivalent, in molecular ecology, entomology or vector biology.
The post may include some travel to the African collaborating institution to implement novel techniques. You will provide training to visiting researchers, develop and improve molecular ecological tools for measuring and monitoring male mating competitiveness and contribute to the analyses of data from laboratory, semi-field and field entomological studies.
