We are looking to recruit a Postdoctoral Scientist to work with Dr John Sutherland on the origin of life.
The project will involve investigation of a novel scheme for the replicative synthesis of RNA and peptides. Solution- and solid-phase synthesis of oligoribonucleotides (and derivatives thereof) will be employed along with state of the art chemical and biophysical analysis.
You will have a PhD in organic or bioorganic chemistry, or be due to complete your doctoral studies within 6 months of applying. Ideally, you will also have experience with synthetic and analytical organic and bioorganic chemistry and/or biophysical characterisation of oligonucleotides and peptides.
The successful applicant will be awarded a three year Career Development Fellowship / Postdoctoral training Scheme position. This is a training and development position for a post-doctoral scientist who has recently completed their doctoral studies, is moving into a new research discipline or has limited experience of key transferable skills. The MRC LMB has excellent scientific core facilities and training opportunities.
