    Programme Manager – North West of England and Yorkshire
    NC3Rs, Liverpool, Manchester and Sheffield

    You will work with scientists from a range of disciplines and levels, those working under the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act (including project and personal licence holders), animal care and veterinary staff, and senior administrators. The role will involve working with the institutions to identify priority 3Rs areas to focus on, including opportunities for cross-institutional sharing of best practice within and between institutions. You will be raising awareness and disseminating the work of the NC3Rs, including funding opportunities, events, online training resources, publications and guidelines. Also providing expert advice on opportunities to implement the 3Rs in specific programmes of research, including input into project licence applications, as well as identifying opportunities for institute-wide activities such as tissue sharing.

    Application of the 3Rs plays an essential role in achieving scientific excellence. The NC3Rs supports the development and uptake of new research tools and models with reduced reliance on the use of animals and/or improved animal welfare and its activities are divided between its role as a 3Rs research funder and programmes led by its own team of scientists.     You will need:
    • A PhD in a biological science with significant post-doctoral experience or other relevant experience in the biosciences sector
    • An understanding of the issues around the use of animals in research
    • Experience of delivering effective scientific advice and support
    • The ability to collaborate and effectively network with stakeholders from a diverse range of roles and levels of seniority
