The Heidelberg University Hospital is one of the most important medical centers in Germany and stands for the development of innovative diagnostics and therapies as well as their rapid implementation for the patient. With approximately 10,000 employees in more than 50 clinical specialist departments with approximately 1,900 beds, around 66,000 patients are treated on an intpatient basis or 1,000,000 times on an outpatient basis.

The work in our research group focuses on stem cells and therapy resistance. We aim to understand how epigenetic dysregulation participates in the pathogenesis and chemo-resistance of AML. To follow this question, a broad number of in-vitro- and in-vivo-models are investigated. The final aim of our studies is to translate the experimental findings into novel treatment strategies for AML patients at diagnosis and relapse. The current position is funded by a new project grant from the DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft).
