Programme Manager - In vitro Reporting Guidelines
    NC3Rs, London
    Fixed Term, 3 years
£37,769 to £44,396 (plus London allowances)

The NC3Rs has a long-standing programme of work focusing on improving the design, analysis and reporting of animal experiments in order to ensure that studies are robust and reproducible, contribute to the knowledge base, and avoid the unnecessary use of animals. The team currently includes the NC3Rs lead for experimental design and two Science Managers.

Key aspects of the programme include the ARRIVE reporting guidelines and the online Experimental Design Assistant (EDA).

We are extending this programme of work to develop guidance to support improved reporting of in vitro research. These guidelines (working title, the RIVER guidelines - reporting In Vitro Experiments Responsibly) will optimise the reproducibility of in vitro studies and improve confidence in their validity to support wider uptake.

Application of the 3Rs plays an essential role in achieving scientific excellence. The NC3Rs supports the development and uptake of new research tools and models with reduced reliance on the use of animals and/or improved animal welfare and its activities are divided between its role as a 3Rs research funder and programmes led by its own team of scientists. Further information can be found at www.nc3rs.org.uk

    You will need:
    • A PhD in a biological science, ideally with in vitro experience
    • Demonstrable knowledge/experience of systematic review and guidelines development
    • An understanding of the issues around the use of animals in research
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Choosing to come to work at the NC3Rs (part of UKRI) means that you will have access to a whole host of benefits from a defined benefit pension scheme and excellent holiday entitlement to access to employee shopping/travel discounts and salary sacrifice cycle to work scheme.
