The Department
The Department of Anatomy is one of the largest and longest-established departments at the University of Otago. Our staff teach and research a diverse range of exciting topics in the field of biomedical sciences, including neuroscience and reproduction.
The Role
The successful applicant will contribute to a project investigating the impact of androgen on the developing brain with specific focus on polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
Duties will include:
• Planning and executing experiments and data analysis to achieve overall goals of the project.
• Disseminating findings.
• Assisting with supervision and training of postgraduate students.
Your Skills and Experience
• PhD in developmental neuroscience, neuroendocrinology/endocrinology, or genetics.
• Experience in immuocyto/histochemistry and molecular biology, including DNA, RNA and protein handling, qPCR, and primary cell culture.
• Knowledge of methylation analysis, chromatin immunoprecipitation, confocal microscopy and image analysis, would be highly desirable.
• Ability to relate to a wide variety of people within a research environment.
• Evidence of ability to publish.
• Self-motivated and committed to a research career.

This is a full-time fixed-term position for 36 months. The successful applicant will be expected to take up the position by 1 October 2018.
