Postdoctoral Scientist – Structural Studies
Starting Salary £30,464 - £33,305 per annum
Band Salary £30,464 - £38,931 per annum
MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge UK
An opportunity is available for a postdoctoral researcher to work with Dr Andrew Carter on cargo transport by dynein in neurons. The project is a collaboration with the group of Dr Simon Bullock in the Cell Biology division of the Laboratory of Molecular Biology and aims to identify the links between dynein and different cargos in neurons using genome engineering and advanced microscopy.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is likely to thrive in a laboratory with a friendly and supportive atmosphere. You should have a PhD in a relevant subject and a desire to understand how dynein can interact with many different cargos from viruses to membrane organelles.
The position would suit someone with a strong background in cell biology, who is interested in joining part of a group effort that includes both cellular, in vitro reconstitution and structural approaches. Experience in neuronal cell biology or genome engineering is desirable but not essential.
Successful applicants will be awarded a three-year Career Development Fellowship/MRC Postdoctoral Training Scheme. The fellowship is a training and development position for a post-doctoral scientist who has recently completed their doctoral studies, is moving into a new research discipline or has limited experience of key transferable skills.
