Postdoctoral Research Fellow - Osteoarthritis

We are currently looking to appoint a postdoc to work on a project funded by the Medical Research Council on osteoarthritis, in the lab of Dr Katherine Staines. The project aims to investigate whether altered growth dynamics contribute to osteoarthritis vulnerability, and whether their manipulation offers the potential for new therapeutic strategies for osteoarthritis.

The applicant will join a dynamic research group that has a broad interest in the mechanisms underpinning osteoarthritis. The main responsibilities will be to design and perform the experimental work as outlined in the project award, utilising a variety of in vitro, in vivo and molecular techniques.

The applicant will be expected to contribute to the effective communication and publication of the findings in the scientific literature and at national and international scientific conferences. They will also be involved in the training of postgraduate research students.

The successful candidate will have a PhD and strong grounding in bone/cartilage biology. They should have existing research expertise, preferably within in vivo studies, molecular and cellular biology techniques, cell culture and imaging. They will also have experience in statistical analysis of data and the ability to communicate complex information clearly both orally and in writing, as evidenced by a track record of research outputs.
