    • Full-time (37.5hpw, 1.0FTE), fixed term position to end no later than Dec 31st 2019 (depending on start date - 28.8 month contract)
    Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a fixed-term Post Doctoral Fellowship in Physical and Chemical Sciences. The project, funded by the Dodd-Walls Centre for Photonic and Quantum Technologes, aims to explore the use of preferentially formed lanthanide ion clusters in core-shell alkaline earth fluoride nanoparticles for optical imaging applications. Additionally the successful applicant will work closely with PhD students on related projects.

    You will hold a PhD in either Physics, Chemistry or Materials Science or will have submitted a PhD thesis in one of these fields prior to taking up the appointment. Relevant experience in several of: laser spectroscopy of lanthanide materials, synthesis of lanthanide doped nanoparticles, electron microscopy, crystal-field interactions and inter-ionic energy transfer, computer simulations or data analysis is essential.

    You must be able to take up the position in the first half of 2018.
