    Postdoctoral Scientist – Cell Biology
    Salary Range £30,464 – £33,305 per annum

    Applications are invited for a post-doctoral position in the laboratory of Dr John O’Neill at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB), Cambridge to work within a programme aimed at understanding the mammalian cellular circadian clock. Specifically to undertake research to investigate the fundamental molecular mechanisms underlying circadian period determination.

    You should have a PhD in a relevant subject or be due to complete their PhD within six months. Particularly useful would be prior experience with circadian research approaches and protein biochemistry. Skills in standard molecular and cell biology techniques, e.g., DNA cloning, western blotting, confocal microscopy, immunoprecipitation, mammalian tissue culture, protein purification and biochemical assays are essential. Practical experience with design/analysis of circadian rhythm experiments, proteomics, rodent models, programming languages (e.g. R, MatLab, Python), bioluminescent and fluorescent reporters, genome editing is desirable.

    The successful candidates will be awarded an MRC Career Development Fellowship/MRC Postdoctoral Training Scheme, for a fixed-term period. This is a training and development position for a Postdoctoral Scientist who has recently completed doctoral studies or is moving into a new research discipline.
