We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to lead a translational programme of work, exploring the cross-talk between adipose tissue and the cardiovascular system, under the supervision of Professor Charalambos Antoniades in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine. You will be based at the John Radcliffe Hospital and the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics in Oxford.
You will be driving an ambitious translational research project aiming to understand the role of newly discovered components of perivascular adipose tissue secretome, in vascular disease pathogenesis. In addition, you will lead a group of junior researchers and DPhil students, overseeing the design and implementation of their projects, all relevant to the broad topic of understanding the cross-talk between adipocytes, inflammatory and cardiovascular cells. You will be responsible for adapting existing and developing new scientific techniques and experimental protocols, providing guidance to the group.
You will hold a PhD/DPhil in a relevant discipline along with experience in using transgenic mouse models. Proficiency in primary cell isolation and cell culture, cell transfections and gene expression studies are all essential. You will need to be well organised, with excellent communication skills and previous experience of contributing to publications and presentations.
This full time appointment is available immediately. The project is funded by Professor Antoniades’ British Heart Foundation Senior Fellowship and is fixed term until 31st March 2021 in the first instance.
