Our Department
The Department of Preventive and Social Medicine is one of seven Departments within the Dunedin School of Medicine. Our work is broad and varied within the field of Public Health and includes; seeking to understand why some people are healthy and some are not; how to prevent illness and injury; how people’s health can be improved through working with communities; how political systems and health organisations affect health; and other issues relating to the health of populations.

The Role
As a Postdoctoral Fellow, you will be primarily responsible for supporting the Head of Department by facilitating research in Public Health Epidemiology, with a focus on studies of infectious diseases, risk factors, transmission and prevention.

Your Skills and Experience
• Hold a doctoral degree in Epidemiology or a related discipline.
• Enjoy all aspects of Public Health research, including critically reviewing literature, data collection, management, analysis, preparing manuscripts and other forms of dissemination.
• Have excellent written and oral presentation skills.
• Be able to engage and communicate effectively with research collaborators.
• Be able to take direction, then self-motivate and work independently to produce high quality work.
The position would suit someone seeking experience while in transition to becoming an independent researcher in Epidemiology.

Further Details
This is a fixed-term position for two and a half years at 0.8FTE; based in Dunedin, New Zealand.
