The Water theme has an international reputation for its transformational research and teaching in the science, engineering and management of water in the municipal, industrial and natural environments. You will support the Institute’s contribution to “Impacts and risks from high-end scenarios: Strategies for innovative solutions (IMPRESSIONS)”, a project funded by the European Commission’s Seventh Framework Programme. IMPRESSIONS aims to advance understanding of the implications of high-end climate and socio-economic change, involving temperature increases above 2°C, and to help decision-makers apply such knowledge within integrated adaptation and mitigation strategies.
You will model and analyse multi- and inter-sectoral adaptation pathways in Europe, covering urban, agricultural, forestry, water resources, flooding and biodiversity sectors and to contribute to the cross-sectoral and cross-scale synthesis activities of IMPRESSIONS. You will also support the delivery of other research contracts for clients on a range of water resource management issues including water security, catchment processes, and agricultural water use.
You will have a PhD obtained (or be close to completion) in Environmental Science or a related discipline, strong data analysis, experience of applying a range of modelling techniques or disciplines to environmental problems, a growing publication track record and well-developed written and oral communication skills.
