Post Doc in Immunology & Respiratory Diseases Research-176671

We are seeking a creative and innovative postdoctoral scientist to join the exploratory group within the department of Immunology & Respiratory Diseases Research, to establish new in vitro epithelia-fibroblast co-culture models for fibrotic lung disease research. This is a 2 year post (with potential for 1-2 year extension) that is anticipated to provide new insights into epithelia-fibroblast crosstalk for high-impact publications and to generate new therapeutic concepts. A PhD in Biosciences with a strong background in respiratory, fibrosis or epithelial research is preferred, together with relevant cell culture and assay experience.

    Tasks & responsibilities

•As a Postdoctoral Fellow you will benefit from a fully resourced and fully funded research environment with access to state-of-the-art tools, technologies and equipment.
•You will assume full responsibility for a research project, working closely with a senior research technician and an experienced mentor, and will leverage collaboration opportunities within BI across departments and across sites as well as with academic collaborators.
•Embedded in the BI Research organization, you will have regular access to other BI scientists beyond your immediate lab to discuss your science and define the best possible approach at each stage of your project.
•You will become part of BI’s international, multi-site Postdoc community, and you will benefit from vibrant scientific discussions with scientists and peers locally as well as globally via using state-of-the-art telecommunication technology and via regular Postdoc retreats.
•You will receive sponsorship for attendance of relevant scientific conferences.
•You will be expected to publish your scientific results in peer-reviewed journals and present your data at international immunology conferences.
•You will be supported by your mentor to define the optimal publication strategy for conference abstracts and actual manuscripts.
•Although Postdoc projects are basic science-focused you will gain valuable insights in the drug discovery process via interactions with scientists inside and outside of Boehringer Ingelheim’s Immunology & Respiratory Diseases Research Department

•Prior research experience of relevant in vitro experimental techniques/approaches including cell culture primary respiratory epithelial cells and fibroblasts is preferred
•Ability to optimise and develop assays/techniques, as well as leverage new technology opportunities, to address scientific questions effectively
•Evidence of scientific rigor and excellence in respiratory/fibrosis/epithelial research as documented by relevant peer-reviewed publications
