Applications are sought for a post-doctoral fellow (12month period) to partake in a research project in the field of antibiotic and polymer chemistry. This project is sponsored by Science Foundation Ireland and is under the supervision of Dr. Andrew D. Phillips. The primary objective of the project is to design, synthesise, and characterise regenerative metal coordination polymers that feature antibiotic properties. The post-doctoral fellow will support the development of hybrid polymeric materials that can be 2D printed. Potential candidates should demonstrate a solid background in synthetic techniques in both organic and inorganic/organometallic chemistry, with some knowledge of physical chemistry. The candidate will learn how to evaluate the effectiveness of the material against several types of microorganisms.
This is a research focused role, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training and development under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator. The primary purpose of the role is to further develop your research skills and competences, including the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications, the development of funding proposals, and the mentorship of graduate students.
Salary: €34,975 - €42,181 per annum
Appointment on the above range will be dependent on qualifications and experience
