The appointment will be full time on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £34,056 - £41,163 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
This job description is for a Research Associate who will participate as a member of a UK-wide research team. The primary responsibility of the post holder will be to develop and evaluate software and algorithms for spatio-temporal image reconstruction and processing in PET-MR as part of a collaboration with other UK universities. The post-holder will also participate in related research projects in nuclear and magnetic resonance medicine imaging. A research-oriented scientist with strong programming skills is required to join the research team at UCL. The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for the research and will interact and work under guidance of more senior staff. The primary responsibility of the post holder will be to develop a software framework to be able to fully exploit spatio-temporal synergies in the data of simultaneous PET/MR. The post-holder will also assist with translation and validation of novel analysis methods for clinical research using imaging with multi-modality systems such as SPECT/CT, PET/CT and PET/MR. This post is funded for 30 months in the first instance.
A good first degree in engineering, computer science, physics or equivalent (2:1 or higher) and a PhD or equivalent in medical physics, medical image processing or related area are essential. An MSc in a related field e.g. Medical Image Processing or Medical Physics would be desirable. Substantially demonstrated skill in computer programming (C++ required but ideally also Matlab, Python and shell scripting) and relevant software libraries used for medical imaging (e.g. STIR, Gadgetron, ITK, NifTk) is also required.
