Morphogenesis and cellular dynamics of epithelial tubes in Drosophila

The Cluster of Excellence “Cells in Motion” (CiM) and the Institute of Neurobiology, University of Münster, invites applications for a Postdoctoral position.

The position in the group of Prof. Stefan Luschnig is available from the earliest possible date for three years.
The Luschnig group investigates developmental, cellular and molecular aspects of epithelial biology using a broad spectrum of molecular, genetic and modern imaging approaches. Possible projects are focused either on the molecular and cellular mechanisms of tricellular junction formation (Byri et al. 2015, Dev Cell 33 (5) 535-48) or on membrane dynamics during epithelial tube fusion (Caviglia et al. 2016 Nat Cell Biol 18, 727–739). We investigate these questions using Drosophila melanogaster as a model system.

The Luschnig group is part of the “Cells in Motion” (CiM) cluster, which provides a dynamic, interdisciplinary, and international research environment. The Institute of Neurobiology currently houses six groups working with Drosophila and provides state-of-the-art microscopy infrastructure (CLSM, spinning disk, SIM, light-sheet, and electron microscopy).

Candidates with a strong background in cell or developmental biology, molecular biology or genetics are encouraged to apply. Applications from candidates interested in quantitative imaging and biophysical approaches are especially welcome. The prerequisite for this appointment is a PhD degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or related fields.
The University of Münster is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to increasing the proportion of women in academia. Consequently, we actively encourage applications by women. Female candidates with equivalent qualifications and academic achievements will be preferentially considered within the framework of the legal possibilities. Disabled candidates with equivalent qualifications will be preferentially considered.

Application documents should include a motivation letter, a curriculum vitae and a grade transcript. Additionally, applicants are expected to arrange for two letters of recommendation to be sent to the e-mail address below. The application deadline is May 15th 2017. Applications should be sent electronically as one single pdf file to
    [email protected]
