    We seek a committed and enthusiastic scientist to join a highly interdisciplinary research team as a Bioinformatics Officer at The Institute of Cancer Research, London (ICR). ICR were ranked first in the Times Higher Education league table of UK university research quality from the most recent Research Excellence Framework (REF 2014) for our high impact publications. We are world leaders in identifying cancer genes, discovering cancer drugs and developing precision radiotherapy. Together with our hospital partner The Royal Marsden, we are rated in the top four centres for cancer research and treatment worldwide. Our Cancer Research UK Cancer Therapeutics Unit is the largest academic cancer drug discovery and development group worldwide. We discover more new cancer drugs than any other academic centre in the world.

    The main focus of the Yuan lab is to develop digital pathology and bioinformatics approaches for studying the evolution of cancer and treatment resistance (www.yuanlab.org). Together with biologists, immunologists and clinicians at the ICR, the Crick and other institutes, we aim to enable the discovery of new tests and treatment strategies to improve the care of cancer through large-scale data integration.

    This is an ideal opportunity for a committed Bioinformatics Officer to join a highly interdisciplinary research team with excellent collaborators and facilities at a highly recognised institute. There are plenty of opportunities to learn about the latest technological advances in digital pathology and bioinformatics.

    You will be involved in the development of bioinformatics pipelines for the integrative analysis of large data sets consisting of pathological image features and omics data from patient samples. You will enjoy the highly collaborative and dynamic nature of the lab environment, work closely with excellent teams of scientists, liaise with our partners in clinical trials and studies as well as manage projects.

    Applicants must hold a BSc degree or equivalent qualification in bioinformatics, computer science, ecology, statistics, life sciences or related subjects, have training and/or experience in bioinformatics, and have a publication record. Training / experience in machine learning and statistics is highly desirable.

    Appointment will be on a Fixed Term Contract for 2 years, with a starting salary in the range of £29,960 to £35,245 p.a. inclusive, depending on relevance of experience and skills. The successful candidate will be based in Sutton, Surrey.
