      Cheryl Wellington

We are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral scientists to join the group of Cheryl Wellington to investigate the pathophysiology of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) in animal models. Specifically, the CHIMERA (Closed Head Model of Engineered Rotational Acceleration) will be used to investigate the relationships between mechanical acceleration-deceleration with changes in animal behavior, brain connectivity, and neuropathology.

Successful applicants have a PhD in a relevant biological subject (neuroscience, pathology, physics, engineering), a demonstrated record of productivity, excellent communication skills, and an ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment. Experience in magnetic resonance imaging, advanced microscopy (including tissue clearing methods), neuropathology, cerebrovascular physiology, rodent behavior, or mass spectrometry are assets.

Research will be conducted at the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health (DMCBH) at the University of British Columbia (UBC). Opened in 2014, the 155,000 ft2 DMCBH is the most comprehensive brain care and research Centre in Canada, spanning Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, amytrophic lateral sclerosis, multiple sclerosis, mental health and addiction, stroke and neurotrauma. Postdoctoral studies at UBC include numerous benefits and access to campus sport and social facilities.
