We invite applications for a fixed term (3 years) and full-time Post Doctoral Fellow position in transportation systems management.The research will include traffic flow modelling and analysis, network optimization, data fusion, and particularly modelling the dynamics of connected and autonomous traffic systems.

This position offers an exciting opportunity for you to develop your research and teaching expertise and contribute towards aspirations of the University. The successful candidate will join three newly appointed colleagues with expertise in traffic flow theory, traffic simulation, traffic control, network optimization, data fusion, intelligent transport systems and traffic engineering.

The Department's Transportation programme is well established and strongly supported by the transportation profession/industry in New Zealand, via an industry liaison committee, assistance with teaching, and funding for research. The demand for graduates is strong.

You must hold (or about to obtain) a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (i.e. transportation, computer science, control engineering, mathematics) and have experience and skills in analytical techniques (eg mathematical modelling and simulation, data fusion, optimization) in transport engineering. You will possess some excellent programming skills (eg Matlab, C++, etc.). You will also have an excellent research record for the position being sought, including publishing papers in high quality, peer reviewed international journals.

The Department of Civil and Natural Resources Engineering is a strong and forward-looking Department, dedicated to excellence in both research and teaching. It has in the recent past been ranked within the top 20 civil engineering departments in the world (QS rankings). It offers two undergraduate degrees (one in Civil Engineering and one in Natural Resources Engineering) and a suite of Masters and PhD degrees, including specialised Masters and PhD degrees in Transportation Engineering.
