Our laboratory seeks to understand the mechanisms by which DNA polymerases choose the correct nucleotide for insertion into DNA. We focus our research on DNA polymerase beta, an enzyme that functions in base excision repair. We use a combined approach that includes genetics, cell biology, biochemistry, and structural biology as part of a newly funded and collaborative project with leaders in the field. We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral associate to work on this project. Outstanding writing and bench skills are required. Experience in biochemistry and/or cell biology is preferred, and we are willing to train interested individuals.
The Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center (FPBCC) is located in Omaha, NE, which was recently ranked as one of the top cities in the US in which to live. Our laboratory is in a new building that is designed to promote collaborative research.
