The Hospital of the University of Munich, Germany, is one of the largest and most competitive university hospitals in Germany and Europe. 48 specialized hospitals, departments and institutions harbouring excellent research and education provide patient care at the highest medical level with around 11.000 employees.
Scope of duties
The Institute for Stroke and Dementia Research at LMU Munich, Germany, invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral researcher position at the Georgakis Lab. The successful candidate will coordinate computational analyses of human omics data in the field of cardiovascular disease. The main goal of the position is the development of multiomics scores for cardiovascular disease and their validation in clinically relevant settings, thus promoting their clinical application. The candidate will work in a growing interdisciplinary team of medical doctors, epidemiologists, biologists, and bioinformaticians and will have a coordinating role in a team of four PhD students.
The project is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the Hertie Network for Clinical Neurosciences. Successful applicants will be part of an international team of investigators and will participate in the study design, data collection, data processing, and project development of a biobank of human atherosclerotic samples. You will work on a research project with the following objectives:
- Development of polygenic, proteomic and metabolomic risk scores for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease
- Development of integrated multiomics / clinical scores for risk prediction and testing in clinically relevant scenarios
- Development and testing of pharmacogenomic scores for response to standard cardiovascular risk reduction treatments and testing for clinical relevance in stroke survivors
- Coordination of GWAS and post-GWAS analyses of cardiovascular disease phenotypes
- Mendelian randomization analyses of multiomics data with the goal to dissect novel targets of preventive strategies for stroke
Our requirements
We are looking for a self-motivated candidate with strong commitment to clinically translational research, who ...
- has a PhD degree in a relevant field (epidemiology, genetics, bioinformatics).
- has documented experience with bioinformatic analyses of omics data.
- has advanced knowledge of population genetics.
- is a team player with good organizational and communication skills.
Our offer
- You will be working in a multidisciplinary team with extensive expertise in stroke, epidemiology, bioinformatics, genomics, and biomarker discovery, have full access to all facilities available at the Institute for Stroke and Dementia Research, engage in national and international collaborations (e.g. ISGC) and take part in the international training programme of the Center for Stroke and Dementia Research and SyNergy.
- Remuneration is based on the Collective Agreement for the Public Sector of the Länder (TV-L) including all allowances customary in the public sector.
