Reporting directly to lab director Dr. Jay Golden, Director of the Dynamic Sustainability Lab at Syracuse University and the Pontarelli Professor of Environmental Sustainability and Finance this position will take the lead on analyzing and developing market pull strategies to expand the climate smart commodities marketplace. This includes, fuels, energy, chemicals, packaging, building materials and consumer products. The postdoctoral researcher will be working with growers and customer buyers in identifying market barriers and the implementation of programs that remove business barriers and develop Climate SMART commodity markets both domestically and for foreign exports. Programs can include but are not limited to policies, incentives, purchasing programs and marketing strategies that focus on the economic, job, and environmental benefits of climate smart commodities. The position will also supervise both undergraduate and graduate students assigned to the project. The successful candidate will also be expected to be part of a team in the development of general interest and technical reports and articles.
Qualifications:
• A doctoral degree in environmental engineering, environmental sciences, environmental policy, supply chain or related discipline is required.
• Demonstrated experience with the climate smart / biobased products and biobased manufacturing sectors.
• Experience in tracking the value chain of biobased commodities from field to store.
• Experience in the development of relational databases, visual databases, mathematical modeling, and a publication record regarding the biobased economy or climate smart commodities commensurate with graduate school experience.
