    Applications are sought for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to undertake research into complex in vitro models of the human tumour microenvironment. The research will primarily be based in the Centre for Tumour Microenvironment, Barts Cancer Institute, Queen Mary University of London but will also involve collaboration with partners in the Cancer Research UK City of London Major Centre (CRUK CoL).

    Essential requirements for this post include a PhD in a relevant biological subject and an undergraduate degree in a biological subject. Significant research laboratory experience in mammalian 3D tissue culture is essential. Experience in bioengineering and appropriate publication records would be an advantage. A demonstrated ability to communicate well, work within a team and maintain good laboratory records are also essential.

BCI is internationally renowned in many areas of cancer research and it combines ground-breaking basic research with the expertise of clinicians and clinician scientists from the Centre for Experimental Cancer Medicine and the Barts NHS Trust to achieve improvements in cancer patient care.

    BCI is also one the partners of CRUK CoL which focuses on the development, manufacture and precision application of biological therapies through bringing together over 350 researchers at University College London, Barts/QMUL, Kings College London, the Francis Crick Institute, their associated NHS Trusts, and national and international research networks.

    The post is based at the Charterhouse Square Campus in London. It is full time/part time (35 hours per week), fixed term appointment for 4 years, with an expected start date of September 2023. The starting salary will be Grade 4, £39,308 per annum (pro-rata), inclusive of London Allowance.
